The buzz is over. The hopes, faith, predictions, and analysis of NBA followers are now put to rest.
Ladies and gentlemen, are the season awardees(

KOBE WINS MVP. Officially.

Skeptics, you can say all you want, but it's official.
According to the NBA website, Kobe is the Most Valuable Player. So much for the Bryant-Paul debate. It's Kobe's time now. After 12 seasons, three successful seasons under Shaq's shadows, he is now the man of the team. The team that won the tightly-contested Western Conference race, despite losing Gasol and Bynum to injuries at different times, that is.
Bryant averaged 28.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in the regular season. He ranked second to LeBron James in scoring. The Lakers topped the Hornets and won a third-best 57 wins in the regular season.
Kobe followers, congratulations. Kobe, you're the man of the season!
Hedo Turkoglu improved the most.
No doubt about this one.
From being a Vladimir Radmanovic kind of guy, to being the second main man of a team that won 50 games. In other words, from being a guy who gets small minutes to shoot, miss, and do essentially nothing at all, to being the go-to guy of a team with Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis. He has saved the Magic in so many situations, including late game tie-ups and collective shooting slumps from the team.
The swingman out of Turkey averaged career highs in points, rebounds, assists, and practically everything. 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, this season, from last year's 13-4-3, to be specific. He was named Eastern Conference player of the week in back-to-back weeks, and was named April's player of the month. He also made the All-Star team, which is a surprise, beating off Jose Calderon and a lot of other great players.
Good work Turk.
Durant, Durant, baby.

When the NBA announced that Greg Oden would miss the whole season due to knee injury, they should've also handed Kevin Durant the ROY award.
I mean, it was a wrap from that moment on. Leave a guy like this, 6-10, in the shooting guard position, on a team that has Chris Wilcox as its second best option, and absolutely no interest in winning, and you're giving him everything a developing star like him can ask for. Since team record is not an important criteria in choosing the ROY, Al Horford or Luis Scola would only fall short of the title.
Aside from the fact that his closest competition is out, Durant is such a skillful guy, and would've probably won the award anyway even if Oden was able to play. With his range, athleticism, and size, and his overwhelming potential, we can expect a lot of things from this guy on his next season, and throughout his career.
Anddd... more.
After leading his team to a franchise-best, and fourth-best league record 56 wins,
Byron Scott wins the Coach of the Year award. A team that was around 38 wins last year, that is. Great turnaround, and great job orchestrating plays for his all-star point guard Chris Paul.

You thought he would be MVP, eh? Nope, he wasn't. But he won the
Defensive Player of the Year award. Close enough. In a game where good defense is half of the equation for success,
Kevin Garnett did a great job of communicating with his teammates and providing energy to lead his team's defense. He made the Celtics the best defensive team in the league, and the arguably best team with that.

To cap things off, the
Sixth Man of the Year this season, shall be the sixth man mentioned in this post.
Manu Ginobili, hands down, is the best guy to come off the bench in the league. He leads the team with just under 20 points per game, and in the reigning champion team, that is a lot. He has saved the team's butt in a lot of clutch situations and slumps, and is arguably the best player in the Spurs' roster this season, but for him to come off the bench? It takes a lot of modesty. I salute this guy. He deserves it. Shush, skeptics.
There you go. There's more to come. Watch out.
