American Idol Season 7: Top 5 Perform
Labels: American Idol, TV 0 commentsNeil Diamond Theme Week
Jason - Forever in Blue Jeans and September Morn
I think: The first song fits him 'coz of its singer-songwriter vibe. Also, the "forever in blue jeans" theme fits his attitude, although it will be easily forgotten by viewers. The second song, bad choice, boring, but still cutesy. I think he's in danger.
David C - I'm Alive and All I Really Need is You
I think: The "AC" suit suits him well. The first song has an AC/DC feel to it. The second song, a bit too Bryan Adams for me, but still quite engaging coz of the arrangement.
Brooke - I'm a Believer and I Am... I Said
I think: The first song: Brooke trying to rock out?!? Awk-waaaaard. VFTW Victory! The second song suits her, a country-pop kinda feel. The piano hid her mistakes well.
David A - Sweet Caroline and America
I think: The first song was surprisingly upbeat but still predictable. The second song, I laughed when he "hiccuped" in the middle of it. When Simon said it was a "smart choice", that's when I realized he was pulling off a Kristy Lee Cook, singing a "patriotic" song. Damn.
Syesha - Hello Again and Thank the Lord for the Night Time
I think: She Whitney-fies the first song too much. The second song is quite fun and enjoyable, with the handclaps and all the energy.
Overall: I think they want to eliminate Jason this week, putting him in the doomed first spot, Brooke in the middle and Syesha in the pimp spot. But it's still obvious that the three I previously mentioned will be at the bottom.
Performance of the night: Paula Abdul! Quoted from here.
'She says that Jason’s second song wasn’t good enough and that his 2 songs show that he isn’t fighting hard enough to get into the top 4. Paula, at the last minute, tries to cover by saying she was commenting on David Cook’s performance, but then calls David “good.”'
