Info taken from IMDB page

Dune Entertainment
Released in 2006 Director: Larry Charles
Starring Sacha Baron Cohen as Borat

Synopsis:

In this "mockumentary", Borat Sagdiyev, a reporter from Kazakhstan, is sent to the US to make a documentary about the US culture. The film "documents" his different hilarious exploits in the US.He meets different people and ends up locating Pamela Anderson so he could marry her.

Review:

Caught this one on Star Movies.

Funny. In a racist kind of way, which I enjoy. Well, I'm Filipino and I enjoy all those Filipino jokes thrown in TV shows such as Family Guy. Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius for thinking up this character, a quite stereotypical but unique enough foreigner who brings his "culture" to another country. The humor in this film are mostly spontaneous reactions from different people Borat met, though some scenes' (especially the one with Pamela Anderson) "being real" are debatable. This film and its main character has generated much negative controversy that the Kazakhstan government ended up "playing along" with Borat, even inviting him to their country. I find that a good achievement for a film which openly makes fun of different cultures. I think we should all just develop a deeper sense of humor.

This movie is so effective, there is another movie like this in the works.

Ratings:

"Acting": 8.5 --> Borat is almost a real person.

"Cinematography": 6.5 --> Some shots reveal the film's "mockumentariness", (such as shots from outside the car, etc) too much.

"Sound": 7.5 --> The music is great, especially the Kazakh national anthem. The score adds to the spontaneous hilarity of some scenes

"Humor": 8 --> Brown humor, green humor, slapstick humor, etc. Not for all audiences, though.

"Replay Value": 7 --> Can last about 5 viewings.

Overall: 7.5

Perfect for: A drinking party with your high school buddies.
Not good for: A dinner with your in-laws or grandparents, especially the conservative ones.
