Pinoy Fries needs Sponsors for its First Contest!

This blog has just reached a hundred posts, and we think it's time to hold a contest. However, to make the contest really big and fun to join, we need sponsors. Sponsorships can be in form of ECs, Paypal cash, ad spots, reviews, links or services you can offer. As a sponsor, you get a lot of link juice from the contest participants, and you also get to help a new blog gain exposure.

To announce your sponsorship, head on to the "sponsors needed" post or email Spife at unplugandplay {at] gmail [dot} com

Pinoy Idol: Top 10 Boys Perform

Gotcha GMA! Now I was actually able to start the show!

Theme: The Year they Were Born

Walton Zerrudo - Every Breath You Take by The Police (1983)

Ogie says: He showed his versatility
Jolina says: Relax more!
Wyngard says: It was OK

I say:
Is there an off-note near the end? That sounded so off. Also, the fake rocker accent was not convincing.

Kid Camaya - Always Something There to Remind Me by The Naked Eyes (1984)

Ogie says: The song didn't sound like a contest piece.
Jolina says: You were safe.
Wyngard says: The performance was "soft".

I say: It was very amateurish and forgettable.

Rye Estrada - Babe by The Styx (1979)

Ogie says: You're still in the game.
Jolina says: The performance is verging on "acting"
Wyngard says: "Fixed" moves.

I say: Trying hard to exude confidence, but still uptight.

Sherwin Marquez - The Old Songs by Barry Manilow (1981)

Jolina says: Good performance, speech and diction, same. Remove the braces?
Wyngard says: I wanna see you do something else.

I say: Nice range, but diction needs improvement. Is it because of the braces? Wow, I typed the previous statement before Jolina made the statement about the braces.

Warren Antig - Open Arms by Journey (1982)

Ogie says: It was "a dangerous song" for you, but it worked for me.
Jolina says: It was not your day today.
Wyngard says: The song did not fit you.

I say: WTF?!?! You should've stuck to the funk-rock songs. The song was so wrong for you. Bad diction, pitchy, uptight. And don't smile.

Robby Navarro What You Won't Do For Love by Bobby Caldwell (1979)

Ogie says: If I were a texter, I'd vote for him.
Jolina says: It's fun to watch and listen to you. You were on pitch.
Wyngard says: If I had cellphone load, I'd vote for him, too.

I say: He mumbled some of the words. But nice range, and nice confidence.

Toffer Rei - I Want to Break Free by Queen (1984)

Ogie says: I like the energy, a little pitchy, but I like your voice.
Wyngard says: "Magaling". Gain some weight.

I say: Nice rocker stance, believable. There were some off-note moments, but the overall performance was great.

JJ Jr. - King of Wishful Thinking by Go West (1990)

Ogie says: Fix the way you move on stage, coz it's always the same.
Jolina says: I liked your performance now than last week. Your "moves" add to your "cuteness"
Wyngard says: I think you moved like Jolina when she was young.

I say: Uptight. Good vocals, but the song is forgettable.

Ram Chavez - Boys Don't Cry by The Cure (1979)

Ogie says: You have an unusual but explosive and effective style.
Jolina says: It was another "wow" performance, but the "moves" were limited.
Wyngard says: I agree with Jolia. Your look needs some more glitter.

I say: He reminds me of Lukas Rossi of Rock Star Supernova Fame.

Daryl Celis - True Colors by Cyndi Lauper (1986)

Ogie says: The problem is I really don't know where to place you (genre-wise).
Jolina says: The performace needs more life.
Wyngard says: It felt like I was watching a high school program. It was so plain.

I say: He looks like Ronnie Liang of Pinoy Dream Academy fame, doesn't he? The volume of his voice was lacking. The singing was quite clean, though.

Who gets voted off? I'm thinking Robby and Sherwin but it's anybody's game, still.
